Home Minister Chidambaram joined the exclusive club consisting of world leaders such as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, President Bush, CPM General Secretary Pinnarai Vijayan etc. A shoe was hurled at Home Minister P Chidambaram at a press conference by a journalist Jarnail Singh who works for the daily Dainik Jagran.

Its unfortunate that he missed

After effects of this incident :-

1. Its rumored that UPA Govt is considering an emergency ordinance requiring all journalist to keep their shoes outside any press conference addressed by UPA Members. for those who insist on wearing shoes special soft shoes will be issued
2. Considering the fact that Brogues saw sharp increase in Sales after President Bush Shoe-Throwing Incident, One of major shoes manufacturer has claimed that Jarnail Singh has used their brand of shoes. His nearest competitors has filed a writ in court preventing them from making such claims. 
3. I am still trying to figure out the connection between this incident and cricket as Its rumored that Punjab Government has fired state cricket coach & sales of cricket helmet has suddenly increased

Anyway having said all this and though I am disappointed that Jarnail missed his target, I would have to admit that Chidambaram was dignified in his response.

Madam Sonia, its not first time someone insulted MMS

Sonia Gandhi has criticized LKA for insulting PM. Fairenough… we can understand her emotions considering he is her “selected PM” . I think we electorate can be excused for not feeling outraged as he is not our “elected PM”. Moreover, its not the first time we have heard someone insulting Dr. Singh.

I am not sure if Madam Sonia is aware that its not LKA who first insulted MMS. It was her late Husband and exPM Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi, who was then Prime Minister, had derogatorily described the Members of the Commission as a "bunch of jokers" and MMS was Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.

Congress Election manifesto - A critical analysis

Its election time and as usual every party has released their manifesto. Congress also has  released its manifesto even though it used the occasion more for BJP Bashing than talking about its programs. I spend some time analyzing the Manifesto and following is the result

The question is Who will be PM?

Even after going thru the manifesto several times, I am still confused about the congress candidate for PM Position. Congress silence on PM candidate in Manifesto is deafening!! Only time will tell whether this was an oversight or a deliberate omission

Manifesto: We pledge to continue our work to ensure a life of SECURITY, DIGNITY AND PROSPERITY for every citizen.

Its amusing to see UPA belatedly putting Security before Dignity and Prosperity considering the fact that their five years of rule saw serial bomb blasts in 67 cities across India. Terrorists attacked and killed us at will without fear of any retribution. It was the same UPA which scrapped POTA to protect “Human Rights of Minorities”. Afzal Guru is still alive and kicking

I am not sure about others but Hindu lost their dignity the day, this government declared Sri Ram a myth! A 5000 year old cherished belief was sacrificed on the altars of secularism!

UPA performance on “prosperity” has also been equally abysmal. In Year 2007, India’s Human Development Index (HDI) dropped two places, to 128(out of 177) where we are in good company of our neighbor Pakistan(136)!

Manifesto: The Indian National Congress is the party that, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, led our people into freedom from colonial rule. It is the party whose leadership, by the admission of Dr. Ambedkar himself, made our Constitution possible.

History has never been strong point of Congress. After all history is also HIS-Story. The story as told by the victor. Congress having ruled this country for last 50 years has changed history to suit its purpose. Tipu Sultan became secular, Genocide of Hindus by Mughals was conveniently forgotten lest it might raise some unsecular questions! . By bodycount the Hindu Genocide will outperform Jewish Genocide by at least 10 times. In fact we should be proud of having entire mountain range named after us – HinduKush(Destruction of Hindus)

But it would have been wise if congress had left Gandhi and Ambedkar from this Muddle. Indians may have short memory but its not that short!

Though split into two, India having attained political independence through means provided by the Indian National Congress, the Congress in its present shape and form, i.e., as a  propaganda vehicle and parliamentary machine, has outlived its use. India has still to attain social, moral and economic independence in terms of its seven hundred thousand villages as distinguished from its cities and towns. The struggle for the ascendancy of civil over military power is bound to take place in India's progress towards its democratic goal. It must be kept out of unhealthy competition with political parties and communal bodies. For these and other similar reasons, the A. I. C .C. resolves to disband the existing Congress organization and flower into a Lok Sevak Sangh under the following rules, with power to alter them as occasion may demand.

Congress could have done better by not asking vote in the name of Ambedkar whom they defeated in 1952 Lok Sabha Elections! This is what B. R Ambedkar had to say about congress in his book "What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables"

B. R Ambedkar Says:

Having led the Untouchables against the Congress for. full five years in the Round Table Conference and in the Joint Parliamentary Committee, I could not pretend to be unaffected by the results of the Elections. To me the question was: Had the Untouchables gone over to the Congress ? Such a thing was to me unimaginable. For, I could not believe that the Untouchables—apart from a few agents of the Congress who are always tempted by the Congress gold to play the part of the traitor—could think of going over to the Congress en masse forgetting how Mr. Gandhi and the Congress opposed, inch by inch up to the very last moment, every one of their demands for political safeguards. I had therefore decided to study the Returns of the election that took place in 1937.

In fact, he captured his emotions about congress in a simple quote by thucydides

Manifesto: Only a united India can fight terrorism

I think no Indian will have objection to this. But how can we stand united when Prime Minister of country ManMohan Singh gives minorities first claim of resources

We will have to devise innovative plans to ensure that minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, are empowered to share equitably in the fruits of development. They must have the first claim on resources.

Does this leave any room for unity? With one stroke, MMS downgraded 80% population of the country to second grade citizens. The government’s special order for loans to the minorities surpasses all limits of constitutional propriety.  Add to it the religion-based headcount in the army. These rabid appeasement moves would no doubt ruin the communal harmony by sowing the seed of enmity between the majority and the minority.

UPA Government continued the work of Indira Gandhi and every Independent Pillars of Democratic India was further weakened during five years of UPA Rule -

• President of India: UPA appointed a president whose only qualification was her unswerving devotion to Sonia Gandhi. We for first time in history now have a President who claims to get instructions from dead people. During her tenure as Maharashtra's health minister during the Emergency (1975-77), Patil issued a statement in the State Assembly endorsing a proposal seeking to make "family planning" (birth control) compulsory for all citizens. The government would take "appropriate steps" to ensure that all citizens adopted family planning measures she said, adding, "We are also thinking of forcible sterilization for people with anuvaunshik ajar [hereditary diseases]."
• Prime Minister: We for first time have a PM who has never been elected to the Lower House of Parliament. MMS is selected and NOT elected(and also have no intention of getting elected). He is in this position not because he is most suited because Madam Sonia considers him least dangerous for her/her family interests in Congress!.
• Election Commission: Thanks to UPA, We after long time now have a CEC whose loyalties are questionable!
• Supreme Court: Its only last week  in an interview to television channel NDTV, Sanjay Dutt said he had tapes of the conversation he had with a UPA minister who threatened him that Supreme Court cases would go against him if he did not join the Congress.
• CBI: Less said better it is

Manifesto: It has enacted the path-breaking National Rural Employment Guarantee Act

This is what World Bank has described NREGA as a barrier to economic development

The World Bank has described National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREGA) scheme of the UPA government as a policy barrier hurting economic development and poverty alleviation. Various schemes of the Indian government like NREGA, watershed programmes and schemes for development of small and medium towns are acting as "policy barriers to internal mobility", the bank said in its 'World Development Report' 2009.

One can argue that World Bank  may be wrong but our own CAG review had found major gaps in NREGA functioning

A review done by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had found that there was no data on the number of people who demanded jobs and who actually benefitted. The CAG review said in as many as 70% of the villages checked, there were no proper records available on number of households who demanded jobs and the actual number of people who benefited from the job guarantee scheme.

Manifesto: It has imparted a new momentum to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan for primary education.

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan saw a decline in expenditure which went down from Rs 12,020.2 crore in 2007-08 to Rs 11,940 crore in 2008-09 and has been further decreased to Rs 11,933.9 in this year’s interim budget.

In fact, the situation is even worse if we consider the fact that UPA Government gave a quiet burial to the Right to Education Bill citing lack of funds. It's intriguing because the government is ready to give funds to create additional places in higher education institutions to accommodate the reservation policy, but cites lack funds for elementary education.

Manifesto: It has delivered five years of record economic growth.

Nothing great considering World economy was going thru a boom during this period. We all can see the situation of Indian economy now. The World Bank has projected a slower 4 percent growth for India in 2009

 

Manifesto: It has initiated the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM)

Errr…. I have heard Vilasrao Deshmukhs promise of turning Mumbai to Shanghai, I am not sure about shanghai but it certainly looks like Venice ever after a minor drizzle!

 

 

Manifesto: It has earned for India a new respect and stature internationally.

This is Hilarious considering our failed bid for UN Security council Seat and candidature of Sashi Taroor. Poor Sashi is now fighting for MP Position from Trivandrum. In fact, India’s global stature has come down in Last 5 years! Five Years back, we had a ministry who took on world nuclear apartheid by conducting Pokhran II and now we have a ministry which gave it away!!

Manifesto: It has considerably strengthened the country’s capacity and capability to deal with both external and internal security challenges.

MMS has taken similar line with Obama. He said "You are much loved and respected in India." He even got a copy of Obama's book autographed for his daughter. The PM described him as having "brought a ray of hope" and said the youth looked up to him "as an icon".

The flattery laced language of MMS is shocking, he should remember that he is PM of worlds largest democracy and he should not do anything which will lower the self esteem of 1 Billion people whom he represent.

UPA: A sinking ship?

Is IBN/Money control rigging online polls for Congress?

Money Control/IBN is conducting an Online poll in which they are asking you to “Choose your PM”. The strange thing is the positive votes for Manmohan singh is increasing exponentially. I refreshed screen 4 times in less than 2 minutes and in this short span of time the Positive votes for Manmohan Singhs vote increased by 853! While the votes for others remained same almost same.

But as always I think IBN goofed up as they forgot to “fix” the number of negative votes. MMS has highest negative votes 41094(almost double what LKA Got). He is in company with Madam Sonia who takes No. 01 position for negative votes(42420).

So the question is if MMS is so hugely popular(by the rate at which his +ive votes are increasing) how come he has so high on negative votes.

Pranab da: The perennial number 2

Its amazing how congress has sidelined Pranab da from PM position.

Pranab da is the man who has shouldered the most challenging of responsibilities for the government in the past five years. There were times in the past few years when he seemed to carrying a major part of the workload -- heading 150-odd GoMs and playing firefighter with allies -- and even Leader of Opposition L K Advani complimented him for his efficiency.

However, he has been completely sidelined from PM position because - 

1. Personal Whim of Sonia Gandhi: According to Da, Congress president Sonia Gandhi was comfortable with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
2. Second reason is more outrageous, his "inadequate'' knowledge of Hindi!!. This is shocking considering congress is ruling (and if fact surviving) due to the seats it won from south of India. I think this is a rule imposed by Gandhi family to exclude an influential section of party leadership (read south) from top post. Was APJ Kalam an expert in hindi? If Sonia who has zero knowledge of Hindi (infact any Indian Language) can become INC President why cannot Pranab become PM!!!
3. Comes from a state which has been dominated by the Left. this is really childish!!! WB has given India top cream of political thinkers!!! and I didnot realise that congress has great strength in Italy!!!

Does more than 50% of Middle Class & Youth Support BJP?

Social networking has continued to grow strongly in India. Orkut reigned as the most visited social networking site in December 2008 with more than 12.8 million visitors, an increase of 81 percent from the previous year. Orkut’s audience was three times the size of its nearest competitor in the category

And one can safely assume that Internet penetration is highest among Middle and upper middle class in India.

Keeping the above data points in mind, I evaluated some recent polls in a politically neutral orkut community and the the results were fairly consistent.

In most of the Polls, more than 50% of respondents voted in favor of BJP (or BJP led Alliance). Even though a sample size of approx. 250 may be very small to predict behavior of over 300 Million People, this can be considered a fairly good gauge of mood of Young (between 18-30) Indian Middle class.

In a disgusting decision, BJP has inducted Neera Yadav into its fold! Ms Yadav  was voted as the second most-corrupt bureaucrat in the state by the UP IAS Officers’ Association in 1994-95 and she was country’s first IAS officer to be thrown out of her job on the orders of the Supreme Court

Confronted with a problem, you can trust keralite instinct to comeup with most ingenious(some say devious) solution for it.

Former UN undersecretary general and Congress Party candidate Shashi Tharoor is learning this the hardway. He is facing most serious threat from the most unexpected quarter in next month’s election. This threat comes from his two namesakes, Shashi Tharoor from Tharoor village in Palakkad, and Shashi Aroor who are contesting as independents against him.

Political parties in Kerala are known to put up independent candidates with names similar to opposition candidate to confuse the voters. This can make or break a candidates chances as the victory margins are razor thin.

The seriousness of the issue can be gauged from the fact that in the 2004 elections, Congress Party candidate V M Sudheeran lost by a slender margin of 1,009 votes from Alappuzha while his namesake V S Sudheeran cornered 8,352 votes which helped the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s K S Manoj to scrape through.

Last week, workers of the United Democratic Front (UDF) launched a manhunt for Jose K Mani, son of K M Mani, who filed his nomination against its official candidate Jose K Mani, who is also son of K M Mani. When they could not trace him, they put up Suresh Kurup besides four other names similar to the CPM’s sitting MP.

Namesakes are also posing serious threats to candidates like junior foreign minister E Ahmed (Muslim League) and his CPM rival T K Hamza in Malappuram and former minister Mullappally Ramachandran (Congress) and his CPM rival P Satheedevi in Vadakara.

Where is the Anti-POTA brigade?

The Mayawati government in an unprecedented act invoked the provisions of the National Security Act against Varun Gandhi for inciting communal tension through his alleged speeches . Another charge leveled against Varun Gandhi was that he incited his supporters to resort to violence outside the CJM court. The maximum period of detention under the NSA is one year with no provision for bail.

But court granted bail to Varun Gandhi in both the cases that were lodged against him in connection with his alleged inflammatory speeches. However, he continues to remain in jail as the Uttar Pradesh Government has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against him.

The silence of the self righteous secular and human brigade is deafening! Afterall, these were the same group who opposed POTA on the grounds that it violated human rights! They had the audacity to speak about human right for terrorists but they have given silent approval for NSA on Varun Gandhi!

The Vajpayee government enacted the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota), a draconian piece of legislation in the name of fighting terrorism. The Pota, like its precursor Tada, is being misused against political opponents.

The adoption of the POTA marks a new onslaught on the democratic
rights of citizens. It is in tune with the BJP-led government's aim to use the
"terrorism" plank to suppress dissent and target the minority community.

Brinda Karat justifies NSA against Varun

Justifying the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to slap the National Security Act (NSA) against Varun Gandhi, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday said a strong message had to be sent to those making hate speeches.

AICC in-charge for Punjab Moshina Kidwai and party candidate and Union Minister Pawan Bansal were reportedly present at the public meeting in which Imran is alleged to have made this statement.

• Congress announced an electoral understanding with Ittihad-e-Millat Council in Uttar Pradesh whose president Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan has a penchant to announce bounty for head of people
  • He had given an open call to assassinate former US president George W Bush  during his India visit in March 2006. The organization had offered a reward of Rs 25 crore to anybody who would undertake the ‘holy mission'.
  • He had also announced a reward of Rs. 5 lakhs to anyone who beheads Ms. Tasmila Nasreen.

Raza Khan said he was aligning with Congress because “of its secular policies” and that he felt the need to “strengthen secularism”. 

• In Hyderabad, congress is allied with Majlis-e-Iteehadul Muslimeen (MIM). Three MLAs of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or MIM were among those who attacked Taslima Nasreen at hyderabad and as if to put salt on the would police instead of arresting people who lead the attack, booked Taslima Nasreen for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, language — a charge that can get her two years in prison, if proven.

• CPM's tie up with People's Democratic Party whose leader Abdul Nasser Madani, whose inflammatory speeches had led to several riots in kerala . Madani and his wife Sufia were allegedly involved in terror activities and recruiting youngsters for extremist organization. Madhani was also one of key suspects in Coimbatore Blast case but was released due to lack of evidence.

is the amount of money which Indians have stashed in secret Swiss bank accounts. The amount involved constitutes 3-10 times India's overseas debt, and 50-120% of India's GDP. This money is sufficient to:

• Relieve the debts of all farmers and landless
• Build world-class roads all over the country from national and state highways to district and rural roads;
• Completely eliminate the acute power shortage in the country and also to bring electricity to every unlit rural home;
  Provide safe and adequate drinking water in all villages and towns in India
• Construct good-quality houses, each worth Rs. 2.5 lakh, for 10 crore families;
• Provide Rs. 4 crore to each of the nearly 6 lakh villages; the money can be used to build, in every single village, a school with internet-enabled education, a primary health centre with telemedicine facility, a veterinary clinic, a playground with gymnasium, and much more.

And Indias response -

Transparency International (TI) said that India has maintained "a stoic silence over the issue and has not approached the German government for this data'' (The Economic Times, 25.5.2008). Some ministers in the UPA Government are reported to have made several trips to Switzerland as the personal leg of their official tours abroad.

“Straight From Heart” a biography of Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil

A biography of Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) and Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church is creating shock waves in political and religious circle in Kerala. As expected, “secular” national media has underplayed this biography.

Cardinal in his biography has some good words for BJP. He says -

In last several days, the Secular Messiahs has worked themselves into a trance over speech of Varun Gandhi. In the frenzy, the secular channels went to town telecasting the tapes sometimes more than 20 times a day. They even lined up a full range of aunties and nephews of Varun Gandhi to condemn him. Some of aunties sounded as if Varun need some serious butt smacking to mend himself, no wonder he is AWOL for last couple of days.

I am not sure what channels are going to achieve from repeated telecast of the tapes? If they are exposing the ugly face of communalism. Constant repetition of the offending message is hardly the best way to fight it unless it is being done to promote certain political interests.

Till date the channels has not explained the source of the CD, which surfaced a full nine days after the actual speech. An analysis of the CD shows 17 cuts proving that it has been spliced and taken out of context and sometimes a voice has been superimposed in parts.

Moreover, the alacrity with which channels went to town telecasting the tapes without any counter checks, is in sharp contrast to their reservations, on allegedly ethical and professional grounds, to airing the tapes allegedly showing MPs accepting cash before the trust vote in Parliament.

Meanwhile, the secular messiahs completely turned a blind eye that congress has decided to nominate Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar for the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi.

For the unaware, Sajjan Kumar was indicted in the official report of the Nanavati Commission of Government of India on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots for instigating mobs to avenge the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Two witnesses, Salawati Kaur and Fota Singh, deposed that Sajjan Kumar addressed a meeting in front of Block A-4 gurdwara in Sultanpuri and gave instructions to kill Sikhs. The inquiry commission found credible evidence against Kumar, however the Indian government decided not to prosecute Sajjan Kumar due to lack of concrete evidence.

The official report of the Nanavati Commission of Government of India on the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots found some 'credible evidence' against Jagdish Tytler. It was also alleged in the court that then member of the Indian Parliament Jagdish Tytler was complaining to his supporters about relatively "small" number of Sikhs killed in his parliamentary constituency Delhi Sadar, which in his opinion had undermined his position in the ruling Indian National Congress party of India.

The Ravindra Kumar and Anand Sinha, the editor and publisher of the Kolkata-based English daily The Statesman was arrested earlier last month for "hurting the religious feelings" of Muslims after they reprinted an article by The Independent's columnist Johann Hari. Titled "Why should I respect oppressive religions?", the piece was originally printed in The Independent on 28 January.

A note published on 8 February said The Statesman had reprinted Hari's article because

"it mourned the marginalisation of the middle, liberal path in modern society."The Statesman has always upheld secular values and has a record of providing space to all viewpoints, even contentious ones. If we were unable to fulfill this role, we would rather cease publication with honor than compromise our basic values.

The arrests came in spite of public apology by Kumar for reprinting the article.

I am sure she may not be referring to her maternal family.  In that case Sonia's (her mother’s) father was a Fascist  sympathizer and was a great fan of Italy's war-time Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. He fought in the Russian campaign alongside the Germans and remained true to Fascist Nationalist ideology all his life. In fact, He even gave his three daughters Russian names in honor of the campaign in which he fought.

The picture is not that rosy even if we consider her fathers side. It was her father who justified slaughter of more than 3000 innocents sikhs by saying “ "When a giant tree falls, the earth below shakes". The butchers who led the pogrom still hold important position in congress.

Then comes the million dollar question how can granddaughter of Indira Priyadarshini Nehru and Feroze Khan become a “Gandhi”. Feroze Khan’s father, Nawab Khan, was a Muslim, and mother was a Persian Muslim.  Jawaharlal Nehru did not approve of the inter-caste marriage for political reasons. If Indira Nehru were to marry a Muslim she would have lost the possibility of becoming the heir to the future Nehru dynasty.  At this juncture, according to one story, Mahatma Gandhi intervened and adopted Feroze Khan, gave him his last name (family name/caste name) and got the name of Feroz Khan changed to Feroz Gandhi by an affidavit in England. Thus, Feroze Khan became Feroze Gandhi. Isn't it too much to cry for an adopted family name!

Now a local RSS leader was gunned down. About 15 armed ultras struck Rudiguma village in the wee hours and shot dead Prabhat Panigrahi, who was staying at an RSS activist's house.

Bonhomie between CPM and People's Democratic Party chief Abdul Nasser Madani, acquitted in the 1998 Coimbatore blasts case, in Kerala may not have come without a price. Investigations into some recent acts of terror reportedly point to the radical Muslim cleric-turned-politician's family. One of these relates to the 2005 bus burning case at Aluva near Kochi in which five men armed with pistols and other weapons had hijacked a Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation bus soon after it left Kochi on September 9, 2005. They forced the driver to take it to an isolated spot. Later they set the bus on fire after forcing out the passengers. They were also shouting slogans in favour of Madani and against the Tamil Nadu government.

Police has found following evidence:

1. Majeed Parambayi, an accused in the case, has also spilled the beans on Sufiya's alleged role in the case. The woman, he said, had called him to say that Madani was beaten up in the jail and that it was to be avenged. He also confessed to having distributed the money given by her to the accused after the crime.
2. One of the accused in the case was Abdul Rahim, who along with three other youth from Kerala was killed by security forces in Kashmir in October 2008 while they were on their way to PoK. Sleuths are reportedly in possession of telephone call records between Rahim and Sufiya.
3. A key witness in the case, Yousuf, had testified that the planning was done at the house of Madani's wife Sufiya at Eranakulam, sources said.Yousuf's statement recorded before a magistrate is part of the chargesheet filed recently by the police.

Inspite of substantial evidence Sufiya does not figure in the list of the accused!!!

An outlet of Café Coffee Day at Kowdiar was allegedly vandalised by a group of DYFI activists.

A restaurant employee said

“Around 100 DYFI activists armed with sticks and stones attacked the restaurant. When some customers tried to escape, they also attacked them, including women,”

A DYFI activist, however, told The Hindu that the DYFI Palayam area committee had taken out a march from Kowdiar Junction to the outlet to protest against the restaurant’s promotion of “immoral” activities among the youth.

Now the question is where is screaming headlines from Secular Media? Will Renuka declare a Cafe Bharo andolan this time? Where is the PINK Undie brigade? Will DYFI get Red Undies?

Christian Pastors root for YSR

Pastors and Christian religious heads from the city and district expressed the view that only the Congress can safeguard and uphold the secular fabric of the Constitution that guarantees all citizens the freedom to pursue the religion of their choice. Thousands of pastors and Christian religious leaders participated in a meeting organised by Visakhapatnam Pastors Fellowship at the Municipal Stadium here on Friday.

Later giving details to newsmen, State Pastors Fellowship president Rev K. Pratap Sinha said that a Special Minority Corporation was established, a subsidy of Rs.20,000 was being extended to Christians to visit Jerusalem and Rs.15,000 worth material was being sanctioned to poor Christian couples who were marrying at mass weddings. All these benefits were being extended to Christians in AP as nowhere else in the country, he said and gave full credit to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for these programmes.

Move over Gujarat, Karanataka is now favorite punching bag for secular media. It has now become almost a religious routine for secular media to publish one bad news about karnataka every day. I guess the rule is "One bad news a day will keep communal away"

Latest isssue is about installation of a Charlie Chaplin statute in Udupi. You would be forgiven for being "unsecularly" confused on what Charlie Chaplin has to do with Udupi.

Yesterday, media worked itself to a frenzy on how "saffron brigade didnot allow a Charlie Chaplin statue to be installed in Udupi".

Time of India which led the secular pack said

Hindutva brigands attacking a statue of Charlie Chaplin on the grounds that he was a Christian and having his statue close to a temple was offensive to Hindu sentiments may appear too bizzare to be taken seriously. It is indeed ludicrous. But unless such groups are dealt with summarily and the nuisance nipped in the bud, what seems farcical today could become tragically real tomorrow. The state government must show that it will not allow such lumpen activity to go unpunished. It must crack down hard to deter potential imitators of such trends.

Now look at some facts -

So now we have a situation in which a film director wants to build a humongous 67 feet Charlie Chaplin  Statue for Guinness book record in the land which is used for temple purposes and they want the devotees to accept it without a protest!!!

Now Pièce de résistance. Lets see how the same Times reported a similar incident few weeks back. Only difference is in this case Hindus were trying to install a Hanuman Statue. Following is the TOI report

Caught in a communal row, a massive 24-foot Hanuman statue installed at Sunset Point in Kanyakumari has triggered tension between Hindu groups and fishermen in the town, a predominantly Christian pocket.

On Sunday, an attempt by district authorities to remove the statue invited stiff opposition as members of Hindu groups, including local BJP, Hindu Munani and Shiv Sena, formed a human cordon around it. Several policemen have been posted in the area to prevent violence.

Kanyakumari district collector Jyothi Nirmala told TOI, "The trust which installed the statue had only obtained the permission of the panchayat and this was insufficient. The trust should have actually obtained the permission of the government through the district administration."
