In Delhi, Politics is a good career option

Politics seems to be the best career option which gives maximum return of investment.

According to Delhi Election Watch, an independent citizen body the last five years have yielded rich monetary gains for most of the sitting MLAs contesting this year's Delhi Assembly elections with the legislators declaring an average of more than double the monetary value of assets recorded in 2003.

Key among them being:-

  1. The highest increase in assets has been attained by BSP candidate from Patparganj, Madan Singh, whose wealth has jumped 12 times at 1,237 per cent. However, he is not a sitting MLA.
  2. Congress's Barkha Singh from R K Puram constituency, whose declared assets reveal a 1,002 per cent increase in their assets
  3. Timarpur's Congress MLA Surinder Pal Singh, whose wealth has jumped by close to 10 times at 972 per cent.
  4. Transport Minister Harun Yusuf, who is seeking a fourth term from the Ballimaran constituency has quadrupled his wealth at 482 per cent

Abhaya case: Retired cop involved in probe found dead

It seems the past actions are catching up with most of the perpetuators of Abhaya Murder.

Adding a new dimension to the Sister Abhaya case, barely a week after the arrest of two priests and a nun, a retired police official who conducted the inquiry 16 years ago, was found dead at his house.

62-year-old Retd Assistant Sub Inspector V V Augustine committed suicide as he was found dead with his veins cut and froth oozing out of his mouth in the compound of his house . But even in his death he was thinking mischief.  A note was also found near the body saying,

"CBI is responsible for my death."

Augustine, who was the ASI of the Kottayam West police station at the time of Abhaya's death, was the first policeman to reach the spot after the nun's body was found in the well of Pius 10th convent in Kottayam town on March 27, 1992.  It was he who conducted the inquest and prepared the FIR in the case and was involved in the initial phase of investigation before the case was handed over to the Crime Branch and later to the CBI.

His statement was taken by the CBI on Monday after the case took a new turn with the arrest of Fr Thomas Kottur and Jose Puthrukkayil and Sister Sephy in connection with the investigations last week.

I am sure Augustine and the Padres should have known..

When Christ returns, all men will "give an account of their own works. And they that have done good will go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil into everlasting fire."

I wonder if they would do a Narco Analysis etc on these Padres???
