NDTV declares victory after 26/11 TRP wars

NDTV has today proudly claimed victory after 26/11 TRP Wars.

NDTV Website claims

When it matters, NDTV 24X7 is the most viewed channelndtv

For the target C&S 15+ in the one million plus markets, NDTV 24x7 was the most viewed channel in the Mumbai terror attacks week, followed by Times Now. CNN-IBN was the third watched.

Never mind, even if the victory was build on the foundation of grief of countless relatives with microphone thrust in their face or the death of NSG Havaldar Gajender Singh.

If NDTV has even an iota of respect for the grief and anger of this nation they should immediately withdraw this

Media has blood of NSG Commando Gajender Singh on its hand!

NSG is  miffed with the way its operations at Nariman House were broadcast live. Questions are being raised over the way Havaldar Gajender Singh fell to a terrorist’s bullet at Nariman House.

TV broadcast our commandos landing from a helicopter on the roof over Nariman House. By the time our men landed and started taking positions, the terrorists were already waiting for them and opened fire,”

Concerned over the way many aspects of its operations got “jeopardized” due to live images being broadcast by TV during the 60-hour siege, the National Security Guard (NSG) is now pushing for restrictions on media coverage wherever its commandos are engaged in combat.

Response to Ms Barkha's defence of their 26/11 coverage - Updated

This is in response to Ms Barkha's defence of their 26/11 coverage. You can read it here

Dear Ms Barkha,

Appreciate your initiative on coming up with a spirited defense on NDTV's coverage of 26/11 and now even allowing critics from "hate groups" to post their opinion here. Is this the aftereffect of assembly election results?.

At the onset, we thank the efforts of likes of you because of which we were able to watch our motherland being ravaged - Live.  At times, We were also able to see your emotional side, some call it "hallmark" melodrama but I believe it was genuine. However, all this donot absolve NDTV from its abysmal  record on ethical journalism based on "fly on wall" concept.

In past, we have watched with horror and anger the NDTV reports which were completely divergent from the mood of the nation or reality. Your gaffe of “Modi might win but he still won’t get the visa to the US.” after his emphatic second term win was the classic example. Even NDTV's reporting during the election period has left no doubt on which horse NDTV is betting.

Now coming back to your rebuttal of specific charges regarding 26/11 coverage:-

1. On the issue of media respecting the security cordon. Physically yes but I fail to understand how physical cordon can limit camera view/zoom. We are not complaining on physical movement of journalist(we are confident of  journo's sense of self perseverance), we are upset on what was aired by media. The question to be answered is, has over enthusiasm for "exclusive shots" helped our detractors or whether it had put life of our commandos in risk?  Remember how NDTV cameraman kept focusing on the commandos preparing the grenade launcher!  Lastly isn't it over the top to claim credit on NSG getting an Aircraft?

2. I can only laugh at the self righteous assertion on your sensitiveness towards grief of relatives. It seems you have conveniently forgot your small chit chat with Santanu Saikia? Even if we agree on your assertion, can you make a similar claim for your colleagues at ground zero? The arrogance of one of them was disgusting.  Reminds me of the saying .... baap toh baaap. beta sava sher

3. On the issue of your singular focus on two hotels. It was amusing that most of the journos (and some of socialites who made it an occasion for their 2 minutes of fame) kept repeating how Hotel Taj represented Mumbai without realizing the fact than 90% of Mumbaikars cannot even set their foot in Hotel Taj let alone dine and wine there.  Why was there no such shrillness in 7/11?

4. In this version of NDTV response, I didnot see the name dropping.  In the previous version, you said -

In the past week, we have also received countless words of support and encouragement- from thousands of people - Indian citizens of every hue and ilk across the country, as well as some better known ones, like Narayan Murthy, Salman Rushdie, Shashi Tharoor, Sunil Khilnani and Suketu Mehta, to name just a few.

So my fist reaction was wow... if Mr. Murthy says so it might be true. But my hopes were dashed when I realised that Mr. Murthy is Non.Exe.Independent Director of NDTV. Now it would be too much to ask Mr. Murthy to criticise a organisation of which he is Director!

Post 26/11 NDTV seems to have started a campaign against the entire political class of India. I can understand your predicament on how you can blame one group (Congress et al ) without benefiting other (BJP et al.). so I guess you chose the second best available option of blaming the entire political class. But have you ever for a moment paused and thought the grave danger the nation would face if the people lose confidence on political system. You got it right when you sensed the anger in the people but it was not directed against entire political class it was directed against the so called secular brigade of this country. People are angry with your reporting because you have not sensed this anger and your actions are seen as a move to protect the actual culprits.

Following is one of the mails which seems to have originated from NDTV, Is this your official position considering this came out of your corporate affairs?

Please treat this as a MUST READ. .

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.....
Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on...
The people of India , can really use this power to save our nation". Use your voting right for a better INDIA.

Still not able to make up your mind go through the slides.

Lastly, one of perils as we grow in stature is we surround ourselves with people who tell us only what we want to hear and usually that's the start of the end. It would be an eye opener for you if you could take some time out of your busy schedule and visit some of communities in orkut and hear the unbiased outpouring for and against NDTV(and please be prepared for the shock). By the way, majority of Indians prefer orkut over facebook.

NDTV is an important media house, its wellbeing and longetivity is important for all of us. We as citizens of this nations hope and pray that you play your role with with utmost care and independence.

Garewal apologises for Pak flags remark

Bollywood's veteran actress Simi Garewal, who kicked up a storm with her comment on a TV show that slums in Mumbai can be seen sporting Pakistani flags, has apologized, saying she was wrong and stood corrected.

Ms Garewal, There is no need for you to apologize. You only told the harsh reality which our secular media is not willing to accept. All you got wrong was location. Even in Mumbai, there were instances when Pakistani flag were hoisted.

Govt to conduct inquiry into hoisting of Pak flags

Maharashtra government will conduct an inquiry by inspector general of police to probe the circumstances leading to communal tension at jamod in buldana district, where "pakistani flags" were put atop trees on july seven. the announcement was made by deputy chief minister chhagan bhujbal, who holds home portfolio

It was only few months back Pakistani flags were hoisted in Assam

Lets hear what the the "other" side in our country says

As nation grapples to formula a credible response to 26/11 a section of society has started its usual ranting.

According to SahilOnline, published from Karnataka (yes its karnataka in India...) and signed by Feroze Mithiborwala, Kishore jagtap, Sayeed Khan, Varsha V V, Amol Madame, Arif Kapadia, Afaq Azad, Chetna Birje, Reshma Jagtap, Irfan Mulla, Jagdish Nagarkar, Mulniwasi Mala, Ghazala azad, Munawar Khan, Saeeda Khan, Noorjehan Momin, Tito Eapen, Winnie Thomas, Inayat, Jyoti Bedekar, Anil Hate, Avinash Kamble, Chand & Harshwardhan Vartak says...

This terror attack in our analysis has been planned & orchestrated by the Sangh Pariwar and its allies within the security apparatus to counter the investigation of the ATS led by Hemant Karkare..

The go on to add..

The Indian Mujahedeen is a creation & the front organization of the Indian security apparatus. The role of the "IM" is to seek to entrap Muslim youth. Organizations like the IM are created with the backing of criminal elements from within the Muslim community as well as informers. The IM is known to be linked to the Fazlulrehman gang as well as the Bhatkal brothers with similar criminal antecedents.P-237

If that is not enough Amaresh Misra  writes in counter current which is one of most quoted sources for Seculars in India says that Mumbai Terror Attack was handiwork of Anglo-American-Mossad-RSS Nexus! Incredibly, he also says

" somehow surprising to learn that the terrorists in Cama hospital in Mumbai were fluently speaking Marathi.

He also claims that

The attackers would not have come from the sea route without some kind of a connivance of Gujarat and Maharashtra Governments with the terrorists, and the connivance of RSS type Hindutva elements as I will prove later in the piece.

Now you would be wondering who this Amaresh mishra is? Is he really a  Indian? Well hold your breath... He is the poster boy of Secular press in India.

He is a regular writer in Outlook

He regularly writes editorial in The Hindu

he even contributes in Indian Express

I am not sure what should be done of ANTINATIONALS like Ambarish Mishra? The least we can do is throw him into the jail.

A secular tribute from comrades in Kerala

                                                Scale of injustice

The CPM Led secular government has set new standards in secularism.  They didnot send even a single government representative to the funeral ceremony of NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a Keralite who died while combating terrorists in Mumbai. If the loss of their only son was not enough, the family of slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan now has insult to add to it — courtesy Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan.

Worse he is not even apologetic for his denigrating remark. “No, no,” is all he said when journalists confronted him with the question.

Earlier, Achuthanandan had heaped scorn on the family of NSG Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan  after smarting under the snub from the father of the angry officer. He said

"If it had not been (Major) Sandeep's house, not even a dog would have glanced that way,” he said when turned away at the door by Unnikrishnan’s father.

Now lets compare this with the treatment they gave to Known terrorist Abdul Nasser Madani. When People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani was acquitted in the Coimbatore serial blast case, three ministers of the Left Government turned up for the reception in Thiruvanananthapuram. There was a partial hartal in parts of Kerala when even former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein died.

Another day another blast

Its another day and another blast ripped through a passenger train in Assam three people were killed and more than 30 wounded in the blast. It would be interesting to see the reaction of government this time having exhausted their supply of scapegoats.

Secular Media is expected to hold the line of "huge anger against politicians.."

Manmohan Ji, Why dont you do us all a favour. WHY DONT YOU JUST GET OUT!

The great resignation drama akin to lipstick on pig

As the body count from Mumbai carnage pile up, As nation realize in shoock that Maharastra Govt. was forewarned even 24 Hrs before the incident, As nation watches in its MzA5MTU2_largehorror the insensitiveness and casual attitude of ministers responding to the tragedy, the UPA has started another round of drama. This is the great resignation drama.

First to roll was Mr. Shivraj Patil - the best HM we could have gifted to our enemy. Shivraj Patil who presided over countless terrorists attacks suddenly found his moral bearings and resigned. There is even a rumor that he resigned because he ran out of dresses to change. Afterall, there is only so many dresses one can afford in a ministers salary. Its only a month back he was in his combative best saying

People say I am very soft on terror—what do they mean? Should I go on shouting about the matter?

Next in line was Mr. R R Patil. Government had no choice but to seek his resignation or isolation as he was contaminated with "foot in mouth disease". The disease causes people to say outrageous things at most inappropriate times. Patil was caught on the camera  saying,

"Itne bade shahar me ekhada hadsa ho jata hai" (An untoward incident like this can happen in such a big city like Mumbai).

The Maharashtra Chief Minister is also expected to resign. He is making a lateral career move to Bollywood. He along with Ram Gopal Verma and his son Rithesh Deshmukh is making a movie called "Taj Mein Aag". Its expected to be a super duper hit. In fact its rumored that RGV even visited the battle ravaged Taj to get a rough idea of set he has erect for his movie.

The resignations have caught the usually stern English media in a frenzy, I saw a frenzied Srinivasan Jain of NDTV asking "First time in history of India both CM and HM of a state has resigned over an incident. Can BJP even dream of it". My question to him would have been "what else could have they done?"

The spate of resignations from ministers hold no significance for the nation. It might have worked if done after second or third blast. Now nation wants action and sadly thats what is missing.

The current actions of UPA is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.

Congress pettiness even in this hour of crisis

Late on Nov 26, some time after the attacks began, Advani called up Singh and assured him of the BJP’s support to the government in tackling the crisis. To be fair, it was Manmohan who mooted the idea that they both travel together to Mumbai the next day, a suggestion that Advani readily agreed to.

Advani had  cancelled the planned birthday celebrations of his wife and had decided to fly out to Mumbai along with Manmohan Singh.

Barely hours before they were to take off from Delhi, Advani was informed from the government that since the rescue operations were still on, it would be wise to put off the trip by a day. The Opposition leader politely declined on grounds that he is scheduled to address several meetings in Rajasthan which is due for polls later this week and therefore was going to Mumbai himself.
But by late afternoon, Manmohan Singh changed his mind and decided to fly the same day in the company of — who else — Sonia Gandhi. Upon which Advani who was already on his way to Mumbai is reported to have informed the government of his readiness to meet the PM at any predetermined spot in Mumbai. According to Advani, who was keen on a public show of unity, he was assured he will be informed about the venue and time for a meet- up.
There was no further word from the government.

The petty politics ensured that Manmohan and Advani weren’t ready yet to put on display the spirit that unites India.

While Mumbai burnt Nehru's (oops...) Nero fiddled

Even before the tears of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s mother could dry up, Congress general secretary and heir apparent Rahul Gandhi went partying with his pals at a farmhouse on Delhi’s outskirts.

The Prince seemed to be completely out of sync with the mood of the nation post-26/11. Since Wednesday night, officials have been cancelling parties they were meant to host and even restaurants called off special events. But the Prince partied hard, till 5 in the morning, on Sunday at the ‘sangeet’ for the forthcoming wedding of Samir Sharma, his childhood friend. They were at a sprawling farmhouse at Radhey Mohan Chowk, the haven of people who lead charmed lives beyond Chhatarpur.

SHocking!!!!

This all seems so unreal!

Vilasrao includes RVG and his actor son while visiting Burnt Taj

RR Patil says such things happen in big cities!!

Now this...............

Whats happening!! is this for real or am I watching a bad Hindi movie?

Where do their loyalties lie?

The CM Achuthanandan is being severely criticized for his delay in offering condolences to the bereaved family of  slain NSG commando Major Sandeep  who hail from Kerala.
Stung by the criticism Achuthanandan, accompanied by home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, had rushed to the city on Sunday. However, The anger against the fake morality boiled over with slain NSG commando's Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father literally shooing away Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan and shouted at him to leave at once.
There is no surprise in the actions of Achu Mama afterall the loyalties of CPM lies on the other side..
