BJP’s Himalayan Campaign Blunder

This might be perhaps first time in history of democratic elections that a party campaigned for their opponent and ensured its own defeat! Welcome to BJP’s campaign in this election. Nope I am not on banned substance. Let me prove how BJP inadvertently managed to campaign for  congress and ensured its victory. of course, secular channels will never tell you this.

Addressing a public meeting in Howrah district LK Advani said

''The proposed Third Front government is only a figment of imagination of the Left and its allies rpt Left and its allies which will never come true. Either the BJP or the Congress is going to rule at the Centre,''

Similarly addressing a public meeting in  south LK Advani Said

“I consider the Third Front a joke (mazaak) and a theory, while the Fourth Front is a farce because no one can form the next government at the centre without the BJP or the Congress,” 

At first glance, these might be innocent and factually correct statement coming from Leader of Opposition and one of tallest leader in Indian Politics. Guess what…. electorate also agreed with BJP and its campaign managers. In fact, during the election time common theme of discussion was …… “we donot care whether BJP/Congress wins but please don't let third front win”. In fact, people were petrified by the possibility of  Mayawati becoming PM of the country with the support of Left front. So in most of states, electorate voted for either Congress or BJP.

But what BJP campaign  managers didnot realise(how can they be so stupid!!!) that for BJP to win elections, BJP not only have to defeat congress but congress should also lose to Third/fourth front!

By taking a strong anti – third front position in states where BJP led NDA is non existed BJP actually helped congress to win those states. Lets see who were principal parties in areas where LKA made above two statements…. CPM led third front and Congress Led UPA… and BJP led NDA was not existent in most of those places. guess who won those states… congress.

In fact in places where BJP led NDA directly clashed with Congress Led UPA, NDA was marginally ahead!!!! Out of 19 States/UT where BJP Led NDA directly clashed with Congress Led UPA following was the results

- NDA Won convincingly in 10 States/UT winning 75 Seats

- Maintained tally or increased seats in 2 States winning 6 Seats

- Lost to UPA in 8 States/UT. UPA won 77 seats in these states/UT

In most of states where NDA lost to UPA, BJP was Junior partner in NDA coalition example being Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra accounting for more than half the lost seats. ,

Congress Star rises thanks to superstars….

Its almost a month since I posted here and I am sure LK Advani would agree with me that one month is a long time in ones lifetime. Since, I believe that one should be humble atleast in defeat, let me start with a hearty congratulations to the Congress Supporters for their stunning electoral performance.  I am sure like BJP supporters they might be equally stunned.

By now every political pundit worth his/her salt might have already come out with every plausible  reason for the electoral performance of BJP. Let me also give my two cent worth

Myth 1: There was a Congress Wave!

The fact: In the decade between two Lok Sabha elections — in 1999 and 2009 — the Congress’s vote share increased by just 0.5 per cent to 28.6 per cent but its tally went up by 91 seats to 205 this time. 

Even this 0.5% increase can be attributed to increase in its vote share in UP from  mere 12% last time to 18.3% now.

Victory of congress has Déjà vu written all over. Congress owes this victory to split in non congress votes.  The Congress-led UPA has three men to thank for its seat surge in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls: Raj Thackeray, Chiranjeevi, and Vijayakanth. They helped the victorious alliance win nearly 50 more seats in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu than anyone would have expected, as a result of which the UPA ended up with 262 seats, against the 222 it won in 2004

In Andhra Pradesh, YSR has Chiranjeevi to thank for the Congress' unexpectedly strong showing. The Andhra Pradesh results are an irony of these elections. The Congress registered a drop of 3.84% in vote share but an increase of four seats.  With Chiranjeevi's newly formed Praja Rajyam picking up an astounding 15.7% of the votes, however, the TDP suffered a sharp drop in its vote share from 33.1% to 24.9%, allowing YSR a comfortable ride back to power.

In Tamilnadu, Captain sank Amma’s ship. Despite contesting more seats this time, DMK and Congress between them managed to raise their vote share only a tad from a combined 39% last time to 40.1% this time. Even after adding the 2.4% that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) added to the alliance’s tally. Vijayakanth and his Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) got 10% of vote share. In fact, it seems that Tamil Nadu chose DMK, rejected Congress, In TN Congress won 08 seats against 10 seats in 2004 elections.

The third game-changer was Raj. His Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) did exactly what it was expected to do. It cut into Shiv Sena-BJP votes and helped the Congress-NCP alliance to victory in 10 constituencies. Considering that the MNS contested only 12 seats, its delivery for the Congress-NCP was almost 100%. The UPA registered a spectacular second successive sweep in Mumbai and won Pune and Thane thanks to Raj.

The vote share picture is interesting here too. The Congress party's vote share fell 4.11% in Maharashtra but its seat tally rose by four, to 13. In contrast, the NCP's vote share is up by a slender 0.97% but its seat tally came down by one, to eight.

Myth 2: This is end of road for Hindutva.

Fact: Nothing can be further from truth than this. Inspite of the best efforts of Secular Brigade consisting of Media and assorted chaddi activists BJP’s has held on to its bastions.

In Karnataka, its vote share has risen from 34.8% last time to 41.6%. In fact in Manglore novice Nalin Kumar Kateel humbled Congress veteran Janardhan Poojary by 40,420 votes. In MP, it still has 43% of Vote share, In chattisgarh, It has 47% of vote share etc.. etc. If this is a symptom of end of road, I donot see it.

Myth 3: Modi didnot deliver!

Fact: The secular media is at it again. Now they are saying that Modi has not delivered. Some even had the audacity of suggesting that BJP lost on the seat where Modi campaigned! Why… because the vote share of BJP in Gujarat decreased by 0.9%!!!! They conveniently forget the fact that vote share of congress also dropped 0.5%  and BJP has won 15 seats, 1 more than last elections!

This years parliament election is the crucial for the destiny of you and our country We have four formations to chose from BJP led NDA front(Right), Congress led UPA(Centre with slight tilt to left), CPM led Third front(not sure where they stand) and SP led fourth front(not sure where they stand). Choose your candidate with care.

Pick a Party as if your child's life depended on it and determine whether they would satisfy your needs. Dont fall into the trap of defining your needs just by “Food, Shelter and clothes” we human beings have much higher needs.

 

Liking a candidate is not enough. The decisions made by the next prime minister and his team will decide the future of you and your child. They will determine whether you are safe while going out with family, Whether your child gets a job or not etc.

Another way to think is if India is your company will you employ such a person? Is he trust worthy? Does he delivery what he promises? How is his integrity? How is his loyalty? Do you really think a person who cannot be even loyal to the party which mentored him can be loyal to you?

Vote for the Party who has a PM candidate who has the competence and character to guide your child, and the country.

Above all, chose a PM who considers self above nation. Let Caste, Creed, Color, religion not be your guide. We owe this to our future generation.

Mr. PM: Its distasteful, disgusting and shameful!

Politics in India has sunk to a new low with Prime Minister of the country using language & taunts only heard among low level political rowdies. In the heat of election or perhaps to prove his strength, PM has started behaving like the shouting brigade from backbenches tasked to to shout down opponent during parliament debates!

lets see some of the phrases he used -

"I would not have been found weeping in the corner, when a mob of hoodlums was destroying the centuries' old mosque."

The last time I heard such phrase was during college times!!! SHOCKING!!

“I am the candidate from the Congress party. Why should I confer the status of an alternative Prime Minister on Advani

Two issue here,

Firstly, Mr. PM I hope you are aware that unlike BJP, congress has not committed you as PM  in their manifesto.

Secondly, Mr. PM by denying us the citizens of India the right to elect or reject you (on the assumption you would be the PM and since you are not fighting election) you have lost the moral right to criticize Advani on his candidature as PM. He has put  himself up in the court of people and we would decide whether we would like to confer him PM status or not. 

 "The difference between the UPA government and the NDA government is that they released terrorists while we killed nine and captured one alive."

Mr. PM there is one more difference if you may have not realized.  During Kandahar incident, a Minister risked his life and brought back 180 people alive while in 26/11, we lost about 190 people and we are still awaiting justice.

Moreover, its shameful that a person of your stature falsify history. It  is a known fact that the course of action on Kandhar was decided during an All Party meeting!

Tailpiece: Most amusing part is our PM didnot have independence even to pour scorn on his opponent. He was given a prepared text and he was asked to read from it. Some of the sternest parts of his comments were released in prepared form up front to the assembled media persons, and the Prime Minister merely asked that its contents be considered as read.

Gandhi Gen five launched

Today, The Gandhi family officially launched their Gen five from Priyanka - Rehan (7) and Maira (5) during the auspicious occasion of “"canvassing for mama" . The new offering from Gandhi family was escorted by an old loyal former pradhan of Chandosi gram sabha Kanhaiya. Even though nation has no doubts about capabilities of any new product from Gandhi Family, Mr. Singh humbly summed up their capabilities with an old Awadhi saying,

"Kathi ki bili bhi gungunati hai (even a cat in the house of a katha singer knows how to hum)."

He didnot clarify if it only hums or whether it catches mice also? I guess being Katha Singers cat brings its own benefits.

He also added how they needed no tutoring

"the two took to meeting people like fish takes to water". . "Gandhi parivar ke bachcho ko bhala kya samjhane ki zaroorat hai (where's the need to train a Gandhi kid)," 

Of course, who would disagree. Its all ingrained and preprogrammed into the special genes some may say pedigree. The villagers narrate stories of how one of them used to fly rockets even when he was 10 years old. I am sure it might be an exaggeration but as in case of Katha Singers cat who knows? 

Like a consummate politician, Little Rehan had a busy day, he hit it off with elders by bending down and touching their feet….. of course without any prompting(at least visible) and then parting with a crisp one-liner: "Rahul mama ko zaroor vote dijiye (please vote for Uncle Rahul)."  Rehan, while walking the lanes of Hardoia, a Dalit dominated area, stopped by an ailing old man. He inched closer, looked at the man and asked, "How are you uncle?" before repeating the all-important message. The children even walked into huts to meet and chat up veiled women who were reluctant to come out in presence of village seniors.

Its a proud day for the nation. The awestruck audience at Amethi watched with their mouths wide open. The Media gathered for witnessing the special occasion has gone hyper with Joy. Some of the anchors were seen weeping with joy, some even fainted at first sight of Gen 5. There is no truth in usual opposition canard that the degree of fainting/weeping was directly proportional to advertisement revenue from Government of India.

I only hope “Maira” changes her name when traveling to Kerala!! I can only imagine the face of Anthony trying to call the girl by her name………

Even PM manmohan Singh gets Macho in front of Fairer Sex

Even Bhagwan Sri Krishna got  swayed in presence of fairer sex, then how can we blame Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for  making some macho statements in presence of capitals Women Journalists especially at a time when he is being called and his “strength” under evaluation.

Prime Minister speaking to Capital's women journalists became “unusually” combative and claimed that 

"I was very clear that if the nuclear deal had not gone through, I would have resigned as prime minister”

The surprise macho statement is completely opposite to what Manmohan Singh told his audience while replying to a question after he received the ‘Leader of the Year’ Award from NDTV. At that time he had said

I have already said that if the deal does not go through, it will be a disappointment but in life one has to learn to live with many disappointments

NDTV has restarted a  program in which a character called lola Kutty interviews different politicians. I personally think its really disgusting how NDTV is trying to portray a section on Indian society!!

What message is NDTV trying to pass?

Few days back, NDTV went into a trance and announced to the world that “Rahul Gandhi is a popular choice for PM” and then they go on to say that “Rahul Gandhi is as popular a choice for PM as Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi”.

I managed to digout the video and following is the result -

The poll was conducted on a hypothetical premises “If congress comes to power”. that means non congress candidates were not considered. If NDTV had even an iota of Journalistic decency they should have said “Rahul Gandhi is a popular choice for PM among congress supporters”

1. Also, other way to look at the same data is, Congress PM Candidate Manmohan Singh is not rated very high even among congress supporters!

Home Minister Chidambaram joined the exclusive club consisting of world leaders such as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, President Bush, CPM General Secretary Pinnarai Vijayan etc. A shoe was hurled at Home Minister P Chidambaram at a press conference by a journalist Jarnail Singh who works for the daily Dainik Jagran.

Its unfortunate that he missed

After effects of this incident :-

1. Its rumored that UPA Govt is considering an emergency ordinance requiring all journalist to keep their shoes outside any press conference addressed by UPA Members. for those who insist on wearing shoes special soft shoes will be issued
2. Considering the fact that Brogues saw sharp increase in Sales after President Bush Shoe-Throwing Incident, One of major shoes manufacturer has claimed that Jarnail Singh has used their brand of shoes. His nearest competitors has filed a writ in court preventing them from making such claims. 
3. I am still trying to figure out the connection between this incident and cricket as Its rumored that Punjab Government has fired state cricket coach & sales of cricket helmet has suddenly increased

Anyway having said all this and though I am disappointed that Jarnail missed his target, I would have to admit that Chidambaram was dignified in his response.

Madam Sonia, its not first time someone insulted MMS

Sonia Gandhi has criticized LKA for insulting PM. Fairenough… we can understand her emotions considering he is her “selected PM” . I think we electorate can be excused for not feeling outraged as he is not our “elected PM”. Moreover, its not the first time we have heard someone insulting Dr. Singh.

I am not sure if Madam Sonia is aware that its not LKA who first insulted MMS. It was her late Husband and exPM Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi, who was then Prime Minister, had derogatorily described the Members of the Commission as a "bunch of jokers" and MMS was Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.

Congress Election manifesto - A critical analysis

Its election time and as usual every party has released their manifesto. Congress also has  released its manifesto even though it used the occasion more for BJP Bashing than talking about its programs. I spend some time analyzing the Manifesto and following is the result

The question is Who will be PM?

Even after going thru the manifesto several times, I am still confused about the congress candidate for PM Position. Congress silence on PM candidate in Manifesto is deafening!! Only time will tell whether this was an oversight or a deliberate omission

Manifesto: We pledge to continue our work to ensure a life of SECURITY, DIGNITY AND PROSPERITY for every citizen.

Its amusing to see UPA belatedly putting Security before Dignity and Prosperity considering the fact that their five years of rule saw serial bomb blasts in 67 cities across India. Terrorists attacked and killed us at will without fear of any retribution. It was the same UPA which scrapped POTA to protect “Human Rights of Minorities”. Afzal Guru is still alive and kicking

I am not sure about others but Hindu lost their dignity the day, this government declared Sri Ram a myth! A 5000 year old cherished belief was sacrificed on the altars of secularism!

UPA performance on “prosperity” has also been equally abysmal. In Year 2007, India’s Human Development Index (HDI) dropped two places, to 128(out of 177) where we are in good company of our neighbor Pakistan(136)!

Manifesto: The Indian National Congress is the party that, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, led our people into freedom from colonial rule. It is the party whose leadership, by the admission of Dr. Ambedkar himself, made our Constitution possible.

History has never been strong point of Congress. After all history is also HIS-Story. The story as told by the victor. Congress having ruled this country for last 50 years has changed history to suit its purpose. Tipu Sultan became secular, Genocide of Hindus by Mughals was conveniently forgotten lest it might raise some unsecular questions! . By bodycount the Hindu Genocide will outperform Jewish Genocide by at least 10 times. In fact we should be proud of having entire mountain range named after us – HinduKush(Destruction of Hindus)

But it would have been wise if congress had left Gandhi and Ambedkar from this Muddle. Indians may have short memory but its not that short!

Gandhiji's idea of a transformed Congress was published in Harijan under the title "His Last Will and Testament

Gandhiji Says:

Though split into two, India having attained political independence through means provided by the Indian National Congress, the Congress in its present shape and form, i.e., as a  propaganda vehicle and parliamentary machine, has outlived its use. India has still to attain social, moral and economic independence in terms of its seven hundred thousand villages as distinguished from its cities and towns. The struggle for the ascendancy of civil over military power is bound to take place in India's progress towards its democratic goal. It must be kept out of unhealthy competition with political parties and communal bodies. For these and other similar reasons, the A. I. C .C. resolves to disband the existing Congress organization and flower into a Lok Sevak Sangh under the following rules, with power to alter them as occasion may demand.

Congress could have done better by not asking vote in the name of Ambedkar whom they defeated in 1952 Lok Sabha Elections! This is what B. R Ambedkar had to say about congress in his book "What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables"

Having led the Untouchables against the Congress for. full five years in the Round Table Conference and in the Joint Parliamentary Committee, I could not pretend to be unaffected by the results of the Elections. Manifesto: Only a united India can fight terrorism

I think no Indian will have objection to this. But how can we stand united when Prime Minister of country ManMohan Singh gives minorities first claim of resources

We will have to devise innovative plans to ensure that minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, are empowered to share equitably in the fruits of development. They must have the first claim on resources.

Does this leave any room for unity? With one stroke, MMS downgraded 80% population of the country to second grade citizens. The government’s special order for loans to the minorities surpasses all limits of constitutional propriety.  Add to it the religion-based headcount in the army. These rabid appeasement moves would no doubt ruin the communal harmony by sowing the seed of enmity between the majority and the minority.

During her tenure as Maharashtra's health minister during the Emergency (1975-77), Patil issued a statement in the State Assembly endorsing a proposal seeking to make "family planning" (birth control) compulsory for all citizens. The government would take "appropriate steps" to ensure that all citizens adopted family planning measures she said, adding, "We are also thinking of forcible sterilization for people with anuvaunshik ajar [hereditary diseases]."
• Prime Minister: We for first time have a PM who has never been elected to the Lower House of Parliament. MMS is selected and NOT elected(and also have no intention of getting elected). He is in this position not because he is most suited because Madam Sonia considers him least dangerous for her/her family interests in Congress!.
• Election Commission: Thanks to UPA, We after long time now have a CEC whose loyalties are questionable!
• Supreme Court: Its only last week  in an interview to television channel NDTV, Sanjay Dutt said he had tapes of the conversation he had with a UPA minister who threatened him that Supreme Court cases would go against him if he did not join the Congress.
• CBI: Less said better it is

This is what World Bank has described NREGA as a barrier to economic development

The World Bank has described National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREGA) scheme of the UPA government as a policy barrier hurting economic development and poverty alleviation. Various schemes of the Indian government like NREGA, watershed programmes and schemes for development of small and medium towns are acting as "policy barriers to internal mobility", the bank said in its 'World Development Report' 2009.

One can argue that World Bank  may be wrong but our own CAG review had found major gaps in NREGA functioning

A review done by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had found that there was no data on the number of people who demanded jobs and who actually benefitted. The CAG review said in as many as 70% of the villages checked, there were no proper records available on number of households who demanded jobs and the actual number of people who benefited from the job guarantee scheme.

Manifesto: It has imparted a new momentum to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan for primary education.

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan saw a decline in expenditure which went down from Rs 12,020.2 crore in 2007-08 to Rs 11,940 crore in 2008-09 and has been further decreased to Rs 11,933.9 in this year’s interim budget.

In fact, the situation is even worse if we consider the fact that UPA Government gave a quiet burial to the Right to Education Bill citing lack of funds. It's intriguing because the government is ready to give funds to create additional places in higher education institutions to accommodate the reservation policy, but cites lack funds for elementary education.

Nothing great considering World economy was going thru a boom during this period. We all can see the situation of Indian economy now. The World Bank has projected a slower 4 percent growth for India in 2009

The flattery laced language of MMS is shocking, he should remember that he is PM of worlds largest democracy and he should not do anything which will lower the self esteem of 1 Billion people whom he represent.

Money Control/IBN is conducting an Online poll in which they are asking you to “Choose your PM”. The strange thing is the positive votes for Manmohan singh is increasing exponentially. I refreshed screen 4 times in less than 2 minutes and in this short span of time the Positive votes for Manmohan Singhs vote increased by 853! While the votes for others remained same almost same.

But as always I think IBN goofed up as they forgot to “fix” the number of negative votes. MMS has highest negative votes 41094(almost double what LKA Got). He is in company with Madam Sonia who takes No. 01 position for negative votes(42420).

So the question is if MMS is so hugely popular(by the rate at which his +ive votes are increasing) how come he has so high on negative votes.

Pranab da: The perennial number 2

Its amazing how congress has sidelined Pranab da from PM position.

Pranab da is the man who has shouldered the most challenging of responsibilities for the government in the past five years. There were times in the past few years when he seemed to carrying a major part of the workload -- heading 150-odd GoMs and playing firefighter with allies -- and even Leader of Opposition L K Advani complimented him for his efficiency.

However, he has been completely sidelined from PM position because - 

1. Personal Whim of Sonia Gandhi: According to Da, Congress president Sonia Gandhi was comfortable with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
2. Second reason is more outrageous, his "inadequate'' knowledge of Hindi!!. This is shocking considering congress is ruling (and if fact surviving) due to the seats it won from south of India. I think this is a rule imposed by Gandhi family to exclude an influential section of party leadership (read south) from top post. Was APJ Kalam an expert in hindi? If Sonia who has zero knowledge of Hindi (infact any Indian Language) can become INC President why cannot Pranab become PM!!!
3. Comes from a state which has been dominated by the Left. this is really childish!!! WB has given India top cream of political thinkers!!! and I didnot realise that congress has great strength in Italy!!!

Social networking has continued to grow strongly in India. Orkut reigned as the most visited social networking site in December 2008 with more than 12.8 million visitors, an increase of 81 percent from the previous year. Orkut’s audience was three times the size of its nearest competitor in the category

And one can safely assume that Internet penetration is highest among Middle and upper middle class in India.

Keeping the above data points in mind, I evaluated some recent polls in a politically neutral orkut community and the the results were fairly consistent.

In most of the Polls, more than 50% of respondents voted in favor of BJP (or BJP led Alliance). Even though a sample size of approx. 250 may be very small to predict behavior of over 300 Million People, this can be considered a fairly good gauge of mood of Young (between 18-30) Indian Middle class.

Former UN undersecretary general and Congress Party candidate Shashi Tharoor is learning this the hardway. He is facing most serious threat from the most unexpected quarter in next month’s election. This threat comes from his two namesakes, Shashi Tharoor from Tharoor village in Palakkad, and Shashi Aroor who are contesting as independents against him.

Political parties in Kerala are known to put up independent candidates with names similar to opposition candidate to confuse the voters. This can make or break a candidates chances as the victory margins are razor thin.

The seriousness of the issue can be gauged from the fact that in the 2004 elections, Congress Party candidate V M Sudheeran lost by a slender margin of 1,009 votes from Alappuzha while his namesake V S Sudheeran cornered 8,352 votes which helped the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s K S Manoj to scrape through.

Last week, workers of the United Democratic Front (UDF) launched a manhunt for Jose K Mani, son of K M Mani, who filed his nomination against its official candidate Jose K Mani, who is also son of K M Mani. When they could not trace him, they put up Suresh Kurup besides four other names similar to the CPM’s sitting MP.

Namesakes are also posing serious threats to candidates like junior foreign minister E Ahmed (Muslim League) and his CPM rival T K Hamza in Malappuram and former minister Mullappally Ramachandran (Congress) and his CPM rival P Satheedevi in Vadakara.

Where is the Anti-POTA brigade?

The Mayawati government in an unprecedented act invoked the provisions of the National Security Act against Varun Gandhi for inciting communal tension through his alleged speeches . Another charge leveled against Varun Gandhi was that he incited his supporters to resort to violence outside the CJM court. The maximum period of detention under the NSA is one year with no provision for bail.

But court granted bail to Varun Gandhi in both the cases that were lodged against him in connection with his alleged inflammatory speeches. However, he continues to remain in jail as the Uttar Pradesh Government has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against him.

The silence of the self righteous secular and human brigade is deafening! Afterall, these were the same group who opposed POTA on the grounds that it violated human rights! They had the audacity to speak about human right for terrorists but they have given silent approval for NSA on Varun Gandhi!

rights of citizens. It is in tune with the BJP-led government's aim to use the
"terrorism" plank to suppress dissent and target the minority community.

• Congress announced an electoral understanding with Ittihad-e-Millat Council in Uttar Pradesh whose president Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan has a penchant to announce bounty for head of people
  • He had given an open call to assassinate former US president George W Bush  during his India visit in March 2006. The organization had offered a reward of Rs 25 crore to anybody who would undertake the ‘holy mission'.
  • He had also announced a reward of Rs. 5 lakhs to anyone who beheads Ms. Tasmila Nasreen.

Raza Khan said he was aligning with Congress because “of its secular policies” and that he felt the need to “strengthen secularism”. 

• In Hyderabad, congress is allied with Majlis-e-Iteehadul Muslimeen (MIM). Three MLAs of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or MIM were among those who attacked Taslima Nasreen at hyderabad and as if to put salt on the would police instead of arresting people who lead the attack, booked Taslima Nasreen for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, language — a charge that can get her two years in prison, if proven.

• CPM's tie up with People's Democratic Party whose leader Abdul Nasser Madani, whose inflammatory speeches had led to several riots in kerala . Madani and his wife Sufia were allegedly involved in terror activities and recruiting youngsters for extremist organization. Madhani was also one of key suspects in Coimbatore Blast case but was released due to lack of evidence.

is the amount of money which Indians have stashed in secret Swiss bank accounts. The amount involved constitutes 3-10 times India's overseas debt, and 50-120% of India's GDP. This money is sufficient to:

• Relieve the debts of all farmers and landless
• Build world-class roads all over the country from national and state highways to district and rural roads;
• Completely eliminate the acute power shortage in the country and also to bring electricity to every unlit rural home;
  Provide safe and adequate drinking water in all villages and towns in India
• Construct good-quality houses, each worth Rs. 2.5 lakh, for 10 crore families;
• Provide Rs. 4 crore to each of the nearly 6 lakh villages; the money can be used to build, in every single village, a school with internet-enabled education, a primary health centre with telemedicine facility, a veterinary clinic, a playground with gymnasium, and much more.

And Indias response -

Transparency International (TI) said that India has maintained "a stoic silence over the issue and has not approached the German government for this data'' (The Economic Times, 25.5.2008). Some ministers in the UPA Government are reported to have made several trips to Switzerland as the personal leg of their official tours abroad.
