Kerala home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son Bineesh is now under scanner for his relationship with  Om Prakash, one of the two people with known criminal records, who was with George when he was murdered. George was travelling with Om Prakash and P. Rajesh Friday night when he was murdered. Soon after the incident, Om Prakash and P. Rajesh escaped with the Ford Endeavour vehicle in which George was traveling. Later police recovered the Endeavour. However, The Chavara Police had reportedly tried to hand over the Endeavour to three people who had come from Thiruvananthapuram, but the attempt was foiled after mediapersons reported on saturday that George was driving this vehicle on the night of his murder. An official at the Chavara station is under scrutiny for trying to hand over the vehicle to the three men from Thiruvananthapuram.

A ‘glamorous gangster’ is how Omprakash is widely known in the criminal circles in Thiruvananthapuram city. Like many prominent gangsters in the capital, Omprakash and Rajesh, alias Puthenpalam Rajesh, are products of political goondaism. A CPM sympathiser, Omprakash began his goonda activities by settling scores for his party leaders right from his college days. He was an accused in several cases pertaining to violence during LDF sponsored agitations. Omprakash came to the ‘limelight’ following the murder of Congress activist Ashokan at Malayinkeezhu in 1999. The city police had issued a lookout notice against Omprakash following his involvement in the murder of gangster Krishnakumar alias Aprani Krishnakumar at Chackai bypass in February 2007. He was suspected to have left the country following the incident.

Despite his involvement in several criminal cases, Omprakash managed to get a passport from the Thiruvananthapuram Passport Office using a certificate issued by the local police which said that he was not involved in any criminal cases. A probe was also ordered into the incident.

Rajesh was also a close associate of many CPM-DYFI leaders in the city.

Sardar Patels letter to Nehru

My dear Jawaharlal,

Thank you for your letter dated 26 February 1948 which I received just now.
I have kept myself almost in daily touch with the progress of the investigation regarding Bapu's assassination case. I devote a large part of my evening to discussing with Sanjevi the day's progress and giving instructions to him on any points that arise. All the main accused have given long and detailed statements of their activities. In one case, the statement extends to ninety typed pages. From their statements, it is quite clear that no part of the conspiracy took place in Delhi. The centres of activity were Poona, Bombay, Ahmednagar and Gwalior. Delhi was, of course, the terminating point of their activity, but by no means its centre; nor do they seem to have spent more than a day or two at a time, and that too only twice between 19 and 30 January. It also clearly emerges from these statements that the RSS was not involved in it at all.. It was a fanatical wing of the Hindu Mahasabha directly under Savarkar that [hatched] the conspiracy and saw it through. It also appears that the conspiracy was limited to some ten men, of whom all except two have been got hold of. Every bit of these statements is being carefully checked up and verified and scrutinised, and where necessary, followed up. Sanjevi devotes a considerable time every day to it. Senior officers of Bombay and CP are in charge of the investigation. Delhi police hardly comes in the picture.

Of course, it is impossible for us at this stage to publicise any of these things or to say anything publicly about what is being done to unearth the conspiracy. Every item of information that is being communicated to us through sources, known and unknown, real, anonymous or pseudonymous, is being investigated of information that is being communicated to us through sources, known and unknown, real, anonymous or pseudonymous, is being investigated. More than 90 percent of these have been found to be just imagination. Most of these have been directed to the activities of RSS men in various centres. We have followed this up, and except vague allegations that sweets were distributed or joy was expressed, hardly anything of substance has been found in them. After having dealt with these matters at first hand and discussed these matters in detail with Sanjevi and other officers who are in charge of this investigation, including the Public Prosecutor of Bombay, Mr. Pettigarah, who has been advising the investigators on legal points, I have come to the conclusion that the conspiracy of Bapu's assassination was not so wide as is generally assumed, but was restricted to a handful of men who have been his enemies for a very considerable time --the antipathy can be traced right to the time when Bapu went for his talks with Jinnah, when Godse went on a fast and some others of the conspirators went to Wardha to prevent him [Bapu] from going.

Of course, his assassination was welcomed by those of the RSS and the Mahasabha who were strongly opposed to his way of thinking and to his policy . But beyond this, I do not think it is possible, on the evidence which has come before us, to implicate any other members of the RSS or the Hindu Mahasabha. The RSS have undoubtedly other sins and crimes answer for, but not for this one. If you have any time, I would be glad to send to you Sanjevi and Rana, DIG, CID, Bombay, who are here. They could explain to you the whole case as it has emerged from the investigation. They say they will take another ten days or a fortnight, at the end of which the case will be ripe for being placed in the hands of the Public Prosecutor. As soon as the Public Prosecutor is ready, we hope to appoint a Special Judge to try the case in Delhi.

As regards the RSS in Delhi, I am not aware of any prominent men or active workers whom we have left out. We hear all sorts of reports from somebody or the other regarding a certain person being an active member or not. In some cases, on such reports, arrests were made, and we soon found representations coming from Congressmen themselves testifying to their Congress sympathies and anti-RSS views. We had to release them. In other cases, on arrests of RSS people being made on similar information, both we and the Provincial Governments are being accused of rounding up innocent people. In the case of a secret organisation like the RSS which has no records of membership, no registers, etc., securing of authentic information whether a particular individual is an active worker or not is rendered a very difficult task. Nevertheless I am assured that practically all the important workers of RSS in Delhi have been rounded up. Indeed, some knowledgeable people tell me that we have rounded up more than necessary. I have already asked Provincial Governments, including Delhi, to let us know what has been the result of these arrests, how many have been arrested, how many have been released, what has been revealed in searches, etc. As soon as these reports come in, we shall have to consider our next step. If there are any key men who are still at large, I should like to know their names, so that we can follow them up that police and the local authorities who are in Delhi or elsewhere have an appreciable number of RSS sympathisers. Here again, however, the difficulty is to locate the men. Whenever I have received the least information about the names, and particulars of any RSS men in Government service, I have communicated them to Sanjevi or Mehra. In some cases, Government servants in Delhi have already been arrested for RSS activities. Delhi's quota of RSS arrests compares favourably with that of any other place or province. I doubt, therefore, whether the accusation can be substantiated that Delhi police or local authorities have been inactive on account of RSS sympathies. However, I shall again have a discussion with Mehra on the particular problems which you have mentioned and see what further action could be taken.

Whose statue is bigger?

The Congress NCP government in Maharashtra has decided to give a  competition to New York's Statue of Liberty and Mayawati by building a 300 ft; 350 Crore statue of Shivaji. This statue would be placed on an artificial island, a kilometer away in the Arabian Sea. It would also include a library, a museum and an amphitheatre.

In comparison, Mayawati’s statues is a Mickey mouse. The largest statue of Mayawati and Kanshi Ram at Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajaik Parivartan Sthal in the state capital is only 24-ft high bronze statues and build at a pittance cost of  Rs1.55 crore. Mayawati shame of you!!!

Referring to Mayawati's statue spree, Rahul Gandhi had earlier said

the state has 'place for statues, not people'. And alleged that this is why the state was ignoring important issues like the power crises.

This comes at a time when Maharashtra government is said to have borrowed Rs 11,000 crore from the Centre to fight the drought and Maharashtra is becoming Farmer suicide capital of India. Nearly 29,000 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra between 1997 and 2005, official data show. No other State comes close to that total. This means that of the roughly 1.5 lakh farmers who killed themselves across the country in that period, almost every fifth one was from Maharashtra — which saw a 105 per cent increase in farm suicides in those nine years. More than 19,000 of those farmer suicides occurred from 2001 onwards.

Todays Times of India has a screaming headline Anti-Sardar Patel book sold from RSS HQ in Gujarat. The reporter Ashish Vashi reoports with baited breath that Seshadri ji’s bookj `The Tragic Story of Partition'  has unflattering references to Nehru and Patel as Seshadri clubs both and holds them responsible for partition!

Following are the excerpt which he found most offending. I am still trying very hard to find the anti sardar reference in this

``When the new Viceroy Lord Mountbatten announced on 3rd June 1947 the plan of transfer of power, it came as a stunning blow to the people. For that plan, approved by Nehru and Patel, had envisaged cutting up Bharat and creation of Pakistan! ... The great and trusted leaders of Congress had turned their back on the sacred oaths they had taken, and the pledges they had administered to the people. What took place on the August 15-15, 1947, was this gross betrayal of the nation's faith, the betrayal of the dreams of countless fighters and martyrs who had plunged into the fire of freedom struggle with the vision of Akhand Bharat in their hearts.''

On another page, Seshadri writes: ``The Working Committee met in a tense atmosphere. Everybody felt depressed at the prospect of Partition. The Viceroy's proposals were accepted without much discussion. As a matter of fact, Jawaharlal and Vallabhai were already committed to the acceptance of the proposals. There was no critical examination...''

BJP going thru Forming – Storming – Norming – Performing model of group development

The rise of BJP to national party is phenomenal. Within a space of 30 years, it rose from a 2 seat party to become only non congress party to rule Indian for 5 years. It would be foolhardy to compare, BJP organization with congress or communist organisations which has been in existence for more than 100 years.

Like any group formation; BJP will have to go thru the painful process of group formation. One of best group development model(Forming – Storming – Norming – Performing model ) on group formation was proposed by Bruce Tuckman. According to this model all these phases are necessary and inevitable in order for the team to grow, to face up to challenges, to tackle problems, to find solutions, to plan work, and to deliver results.  Lets see where is BJP today.

Forming

This is the first stage of team formation where the team meets and learns about the opportunity and challenges, and then agrees on goals and begins to tackle the tasks. Team members tend to behave quite independently. They may be motivated but are usually relatively uninformed of the issues and objectives of the team. Team members are usually on their best behavior but very focused on themselves. Mature team members begin to model appropriate behavior even at this early phase. this phase.

During initial 30 years of their existence, BJP was going thru this stage. This was the stage when they reach

Storming

All members have their own ideas as to how the process should look, and personal agendas are often rampant. Storming is probably the most difficult stage for the team. They begin to realize the tasks that are ahead are different and more difficult than they previously imagined. Impatient about the lack of progress, members argue about just what actions the team should take. They try to rely solely on their personal and professional experience, and resist collaborating with most other team members.

The maturity of some team members usually determines whether the team will ever move out of this stage. Some team members will focus on minutiae to evade real issues. The storming stage is necessary to the growth of the team. It can be contentious, unpleasant and even painful to members of the team who are averse to conflict.

BJP is currently going thru this phase of Group building.

Norming

Once group goes thru the storming stage, Everyone wants to share the newly found focus. Enthusiasm is high, and the team is often tempted to go beyond the original scope of the process. During this stage, members reconcile competing loyalties and responsibilities. They accept the team, ground rules, roles, and the individuality of fellow members. Emotional conflict is reduced as previously competitive relationships become more cooperative.

This is what BJP should aim for. 

Performing

By now the team has settled its relationships and expectations. They can begin performing by diagnosing, problem solving, and implementing changes. At last, team members have discovered and accepted other's strengths and weakness. In addition, they have learned what their roles are. Performing includes these feelings and behaviors:

The team is now an effective, cohesive unit. You can tell when your team has reached this stage because you start getting a lot of work done.

Jaswant Singh: The Misfit

Jaswant Singh was born on 3 January 1938  to Late Thakur Sardar Singhji & Shrimati Kunwar Baisa, in Jasol village in Rajasthan's Barmer district formerly a part of the princely state of Jodhpur.

Mr. Singh studied at the Mayo College, Ajmer and was first batch at the National Defence Academy in Khadakvasla. In 1957, he was commissioned to the Central India Horse Armoured Regiment(21st King George V's Own Horse) where he achieved the rank of Major. In Army,  he found it difficult to adjusting to grueling life in Army. In his book, A Call to Honour - In service of Emergent India he describes the Army training  to be exaggerated, needlessly loud and overbearing and which is a daily assault on his  sensibilities, and  free spirit.

It was all clearly so exaggerated, needlessly loud and overbearing, and especially concentrated too, so as to break us in quickly. And for most, that breaking-in was permanent. As I tried to cope with the daily assault on my sensibilities, and upon my incurably free spirit, this ‘understanding’ helped me arrive at just the appropriate response: ‘I must preserve myself and not sink into the anonymity of totally submissive obedience.

Spoken like a True blooded ruler who is used to giving orders(Hukums) to lesser mortals & not taking one. It was not long  before he realised that Army is not his cup of team.

I already knew, had perhaps always known, that I was not going to be in the army for good.

He left Army on 22 November 1966 within just nine years of short service. His official reason for resigning was “to join politics” however there are some who say he premature retirement in 1966 to help the maharaja of Jodhpur manage the royal household. A wise career decision I guess…

What ever may be the reason, he did join politics. His political antipathy for the Congress and particularly for Sardar Patel could have been due to his royal connection. In 1947, Patel had used tact and pressure on the princely states to merge with India. Patel has always been seen negatively by the maharajas and their families.

One would have expected him to join Jan Sangh, founded by Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in 1951  but he fought the election on the Swatantra Party ticket in 1967; the Congress candidate defeated him. For the unaware, Pt. Nehru captured the essence of Swantrata Party when he described it as “the rich man's party” backed by princely rulers and industrialists and opposed to Nehruvian socialism.  In 1971, Swatantra Party secured only 8 seats in the Lok Sabha and after Rajaji's death in 1972, it declined rapidly. The Swatantra experiment ended in 1974 by merging with Bharatiya Kranti Dal led by Charan Singh.

In 1980, He became one of founding members of BJP. However just like in Army even in BJP he was a misfit. He did not believe in the ideology of BJP's or its parent, the RSS. He even maintained his distance from the RSS and its thinking. It is well known he  never joined the Ram temple movement or other such explosive political events.  At best his opportunistic association with BJP can be termed as Marriage of convenience. 

In BJP, he enjoyed the best opportunities that the BJP had to offer, but he was never a mass leader; he was never a popular figure with whom party cadres identified with. He was just a political lightweight who enjoyed power. In fact even, the research of his book was made possible also because of the stature he enjoyed during five years as Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Even while being a senior party leader occupying important positions inparty and parliament, Jaswant Singh embarrassed BJP on several occasions. 

In July 2006, Singh released a book titled A Call to Honour: In Service of Emergent India.A controversy erupted immediately after the release of the book, in which Singh insinuated that a mole had existed in the Prime Ministerial Office during the tenure of Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, who had leaked information to American sources. Soon after, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh challenged him to name the mole. In response, Singh sent a letter to him. The letter, Singh said later, had no signature, and no name of any mole. Jaswant Singh then backed off, saying his views on the subject were based on a "hunch".

It was high time BJP got rid of Misfits…

In fact, After Gandhi’s murder, it would have been more difficulty to unban RSS than ban it. If Patel really wanted he could have finished of Nascent RSS.

The seculars are raising a huge stink on Gujarat banning Jawant Singhs controversial book Jinnah — India, Partition, Independence. They see it as another instance of stifling independent views in Gujarat

However , what they forget is in 2006, The Da Vinci Code, which was not even banned in in Christian majority was either banned or suspended in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Punjab. None of them were ruled by BJP

Similarly congress government also banned James Laine's Shivaji: Hindu King in Muslim India fopr remarks that were deemed derogatory to the Maratha hero.

Govt says no to National War Memorial

Insulting the country's martyrs has become a habit of the UPA government. After virtually spitting on the graves of those who sacrificed their lives in Kargil, the government has now shot down a proposal for National War Memorial.

The proposed war memorial to pay tribute to every soldier who has laid down his life for the country was nipped in the bud after the urban development ministry refused to allot land near the India Gate in the national capital.

The urban development ministry shot down a proposal by the ministry of defence for the memorial within the India Gate complex.

Despite deep anguish within the armed forces for the indifference shown towards its martyrs in the recent past, the urban development ministry said it cannot allot land behind the India Gate for the memorial. Statutory clearances will not be forthcoming, it said clearly.

The ministry's view is that setting up a war memorial behind the India Gate hexagon would disrupt the layout of the complex. It will interfere with the sensibility of the area.
The ministry also fears that a war memorial on the complex would make it a high-security area and therefore drive tourists away.

The complex was being built on the 3,800 sq feet of land acquired by the Board for Rs. 20 crore. Government had waived the stamp duty of Rs. 2 crore needed for its registration. The 3555 sq. feet of open land on the left side of Haj House acquired from Deccan Motors would be kept vacant for accommodating Haj pilgrims, Mr. Shabbir said.

He said the Rajashekhara Reddy government had created a history by taking back 50 acres of Dargah Hazrath Baba Sharfuddin land at Pahadi Shareef from APIIC(Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) and handing over the same to the Wakf Board. Its present value was Rs. 350 crore. This clearly proved the minority friendly attitude of the chief minister, Mr. Shabbir said. He said the steps taken by the government for welfare of minorities was being appreciated so much so that there was demand in other States to replicate the “YSR minority model”.

The truth Congress donot want you to know

1. There have been four acts of mass casualty terrorism since 1981. All the four were carried out when the Congress (I) was in power in New Delhi.
2. There have been three instances of targeted attacks on foreigners since 1991--two in J&K and one in Mumbai. All the three were carried out when the Congress (I) was in power.
3. There have been seven acts of ISI-sponsored aircraft hijackings since 1971. Six of them were carried out when the Congress (I) and one when the BJP was in power.
4. There has been one instance of an Air India plane being blown up in mid-air killing over 250 persons. This took place when the Congress (I) was in power.
5. The LET was banned by the Musharraf government as a terrorist organization through a gazette notification on January 15,2002. The Manmohan Singh government has not been able to get the JUD banned by the Zardari government even eight months after the Mumbai attack.
6. Indira Gandhi was assassinated when the Congress (I) was in power in New Delhi. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated when an ally of the Congress (I) was in power in New Delhi and another ally in Chennai.
7. The Indian Mujahideen came into existence when the Congress (I) was in power.
8. The first commando-style complex terrorist attack in Indian territory by a group of terrorists, all hailing from Pakistan, has taken place when the Congress (I) is in power.

The Prime Minister used former President Ronald Reagan of the US as a prop by quoting his remark: “Trust, but verify”. Yes, he had said it. In 1986 some US soldiers were killed by an explosion in a West Berlin discotheque. The US investigators established that the terrorists had come from Libya. After verification, he ordered the US Air Force to bomb the training centre in Libya.

Indian investigators have clearly verified and established that the terrorists who attacked Mumbai were trained in the POK.

Cabinet has given its consent for the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Asean in spite of the objection from its own MP’s.

Manmohan Singh said,

"A free trade agreement with Asean is an international political commitment and is also part of the Look East Policy."

When the agreement is implemented, the present 70 percent import duty on pepper will come down by 2 percent every year. Likewise, the import duty on tea and coffee, which is now 80 percent, would come down to 45 percent and that on rubber would come down to 50 percent after 10 years. The FTA will also eliminate import tariffs on around 4,000 items.

This would spell doom for Kerala’s pepper, tea, coffee, spices and rubber as markets will be  flooded with cheaper imports from other countries.

Soon after Independence, the first commander-in-chief of the Indian armed forces, General Sir Robert Lockhart, presented a paper outlining a plan for the growth of the Indian Army to Prime Minister Nehru. Nehru’s reply:

‘We don’t need a defence plan. Our policy is non-violence. We foresee no military threats. You can scrap the army. The police are good enough to meet our security needs.’

Nehru didn’t waste much time. On September 16, 1947, he directed that the army’s then strength of 280,000 be brought down to 150,000. Even in fiscal 1950-51, when the Chinese threat had begun to loom large on the horizon, 50,000 army personnel were sent home as per his original plan to disband the armed forces.

He realized his folly (a bit too late) after the debacle of china war. In 1963, he said in Rajya Sabha

"I remember many a time when our senior generals came to us, and wrote to the defence ministry saying that they wanted certain things... If we had had foresight, known exactly what would happen, we would have done something else... what India has learnt from the Chinese invasion is that in the world of today there is no place for weak nations... We have been living in an unreal world of our own creation."

Unfortunately, even then he refused to personally take responsibility of the debacle, he took umbrage behind the collective decision (he used we instead of i)

With Ajmal Kasab pleading guilty to his role in the Mumbai terror attacks, Congress is  working overtime to take the credit for the same.

According to congress, the confessions of Ajmal Kasab was a result of the diplomatic offensive as India had taken up the issue at the international fora.

I think congress is starting to feel the heat of PM Mamohan Singh’s Himalayan blunder on Pakistan. But isnt it a bit of overkill to claim that international fora impressed upon Kasab to confess… 

 

 

Why no chaddis are being send to Shiela Dixit

Last year assorted secular activists made a huge hue and cry when few ladies were assaulted in a Pub in Magalore. They launched Pink Chaddi campaign. Union Minister Renuka Choudhary even went a step further by asking people to launch Pub Bharo  campaign. While not justifying that act, it seems the arm chair women activists has conveniently forgotten the real areas of concern.

From a 18-months old child to a 80-year-old woman none are safe in Delhi.  A latest government data shows that national Capital is one of the most unsafe city among the four metros in India, with Delhi witnessing a rape in every thousand minutes. The statistics prepared by National Crime Records shows that Delhi city, excluding the rural areas. The figures are more dreadful if we include data from whole of Delhi, including rural areas, in these areas 598 rape cases were registered in 2007, that is, every 878.9 minutes, a rape is taking place! For Mumbai the figure was 3020.7 minutes.

From airports to metro stations, Rajiv Gandhi's name is a popular choice. latest being Bandra-Worli sea link being named after Rajiv Gandhi. Is congress so unimaginative that it cannot think beyond Gandhi Family portfolio of names?

Anyway I am not surprised as Congress even wanted to rename Amethi after Rajiv Gandhi!!! I wonder when India would be renamed as Gandhistan….

No one wants to talk about Justice Mohapatra Commission

“Secular Media” has gone overboard with Liberhan commission and some even claimed it to be Kick out punch by congress. However, on otherside, they completely ignored Justice Mohapatra Commission. Perhaps because the findings of Justice Mohapatra Commission didnot meet the “secular desires”

Justice Mohapatra Commission was constituted to probe last year’s communal riots in Orissa’s Kandhamal district. Yesterday, a 28-page interim report was submitted about nine months after the probe panel was constituted.

The commission has attributed the prolonged violence to “cumulative anger” of locals, mostly tribals, against the negligence they have suffered for years. The report also blamed land disputes and conflict between tribals and Scheduled Caste ‘panas’ for the violence

To the utter disappointment of secular brigade, And Sangh Parivar's name was not even mentioned for any role in the attacks.
